Three Meatballs, One Wedding, and a Zipline at 65 MPH

Peter
00:09-00:14
Well welcome back to Generations. I am one of your co-hosts, Peter.

Aubrey
00:13-00:16
And I am your other co-host, Aubrey.

Peter
00:16-00:22
And we have been absent for a little bit for good reason, I think.

Aubrey
00:21-00:22
Yes, yes.

Peter
00:22-00:25
probably will talk about those reasons today.

Aubrey
00:25-00:26
Yes.

Peter
00:25-00:27
But Aubrey, how are you?

Aubrey
00:27-00:58
I am doing pretty good. Um yeah, I'm just, you know, recovering from the last uh few weeks events um and Hayden is gone um still on his work trip. So I am here back in Madison alone, which is sad, but I have not been home for three weeks. So I am I am glad to be home.

Peter
00:54-01:00
Yeah, you've I bet you are.

Aubrey
01:00-01:03
Yeah.

Peter
01:01-01:04
So uh you're hanging in there though, getting settled.

Aubrey
01:03-01:04
Yes.

Peter
01:04-01:11
I I can see some uh large Amazon boxes in the background of your uh camera there.

Aubrey
01:11-01:17
Yes, indeed. Many, many boxes. Many, many, many boxes.

Peter
01:17-01:20
I mean, that's that's not a bad thing, right?

Aubrey
01:19-01:51
Yep, yep. Very exciting. Just uh my recycling is really, really far away uh from my apartment. I have to go all the way down into the parking garage and then basically basically walk. across the entire parking garage to get to this recycling so it's not an easy thing to take out so I have to do many trips but Yep.

Peter
01:37-01:52
Yeah. No, that happens. That happens. And you know what you do is you just kind of get things like you have them there ready and Oh, okay, we're going. We'll take we'll take it. I I'll take what I can now, and then you take more the next time, and and there we go.

Aubrey
01:51-01:55
Exactly. Exactly. But yes, so how are you?

Peter
01:55-02:42
Uh I'm hanging in there, you know. It was uh it was it's been an interesting couple of weeks, not quite as exciting as yours, but you know, I had I had a little bit of time off and then obviously Alex got home and then it was getting ready for your wedding and then we had that and then I got sick and had to go back to work and You know, but it's it's been alright, and uh we're we're hanging in there just you know got a new car yesterday because we had to do that because we had another driver and I could tell he he would not say anything because he's matured a lot and he's a good he's a good kid but I think Alex didn't love the having to borrow cars and ask and stuff like that.

Aubrey
02:08-02:26
Yep. Yep. Yikes, yeah. Yeah.

Peter
02:43-02:47
And and so good that we don't have to worry about that anymore.

Aubrey
02:43-03:06
Yep. Yeah Yeah.

Peter
02:47-03:06
And Um, y you know, it was one of these things where I knew we were gonna need to, and I was just planning on getting him a car. And then at some point your mom said something about why are you not just getting yourself a car and then like hand yours down.

Aubrey
03:06-03:10
Yeah.

Peter
03:07-03:11
Oh, I don't want a car payment again and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, and all this stuff.

Aubrey
03:10-03:25
Yeah Yeah.

Peter
03:11-04:07
And so we went and we looked at a few cars for him and I was having a hard time finding something that just really seemed worth it. You know, I mean, I only I didn't want to spend a ton. I only wanted to spend like around twelve thousand dollars on a car for him. And um yesterday morning, it's just funny how it all worked out. So yesterday morning, Gareth had a swim meet. I'd woken up beforehand like usual. And on a whim, I was just like, oh, I wonder if I wonder if they've got anything. Because we were going to go up to Blackfoot yesterday. That was a thing. As we looked at places locally. And they just weren't great. There's a used car dealer ship up in Blackfoot that just had a crap ton. So when I looked at like Cars. com or Auto Trader. Um they had, I would honestly say when I put in my criteria, three out of every four cars listed were at this one dealer up in Blackfoot.

Aubrey
04:05-04:41
Oh wow Yeah.

Peter
04:08-04:41
So I just finally said, well, you know, we should just go up there. Um, we'll go up and just walk in and say, hey, this is what we're looking for. uh what can you you know, what do you have? And I just you know, we were gonna maybe do it Thursday when I got home from work, but I was so tired 'cause I just was recovering and so I kinda crashed and then Friday I had stuff going on and so we didn't have a chance. So I'm like, okay, we gotta go do this on Saturday. And I will be honest, I was completely dreading it. I was not at all looking forward to it because car shopping is not fun.

Aubrey
04:41-04:42
Yeah.

Peter
04:42-04:48
I I I don't think anyone likes it. Maybe there are some siccos who do, but I hate it.

Aubrey
04:47-04:48
Yeah.

Peter
04:48-05:18
And so I'm dreading this, but I know we need to get a car. And I wake up yesterday morning and like I say, on uh on just a bit of a whim I I pop open the, and I don't even remember why I popped open the Teton Honda page, because that's where we bought your mom's car. Popped it open, clicked used, and there was a 2025 Toyota RAV4 hybrid with 2600 miles on it.

Aubrey
05:18-05:19
Insane.

Peter
05:18-05:27
2025, so you know, 2025, less than 3,000 miles. And I was like, oh. Well, I like the idea of a hybrid.

Aubrey
05:27-05:29
Yeah.

Peter
05:28-05:29
I'm down with that.

Aubrey
05:29-05:31
Yeah.

Peter
05:30-05:31
Maybe I should go look at it.

Aubrey
05:31-05:32
Yeah.

Peter
05:32-06:00
So we go to the we go to the swim meet, and I kind of tell your mom during the meet, I say, hey, I think I'm just gonna go look at this and see. And she's like, that's kind of what I told you you should do. And I started thinking about it because I had this, you know, again, now I'm doing all the different math in my head and I'm thinking, okay, well, if I spend like $12,000, it's going to be more because, you know, tax title, all this kind of stuff. If I spend that on a car for him now, I really am. I mean, my car's like 11 years old.

Aubrey
06:00-06:01
Mm-hmm.

Peter
06:00-06:13
I'm like, I'm gonna want something in the next couple of years. So then we'll be turning around spending more on a car for me within a year or two. And then as your mom pointed out, because she's a smart lady, she was like, we know everything about your car.

Aubrey
06:13-06:15
Yeah.

Peter
06:13-06:17
You've had a, I've been the only owner on the Chevy.

Aubrey
06:15-06:24
Yep Yep.

Peter
06:17-06:28
We know it's never had any like serious mechanical issues. We know that I've it's had all its oil changes and we've done its normal maintenance and that it's never been in an accident.

Aubrey
06:24-06:42
Right Yeah.

Peter
06:28-07:05
So We know for certainty the provenance of this car. And so we're not getting something where it's like, okay, well, what's really happened to this? So I don't know. I went down and I looked at it and I took it for a drive and I'm like, I like the way this drives. It's comfortable. And we got back and I was like, you know what? Yeah, I think I'm gonna do it. And then they were like, oh, it was the same, you know, the business manager side of things. He was the same guy that helped us when your mom bought her car. And so he's like, oh, thanks for coming back. You know, we'll take like an extra $2,000 off the price because you're a repeat customer.

Aubrey
07:05-07:07
All right.

Peter
07:05-07:08
And I was like, okay, great.

Aubrey
07:07-07:08
All right.

Peter
07:09-07:18
So, you know, and it actually went like it even went fast because they had most of my information still in their system because we had just bought the car last December.

Aubrey
07:17-07:18
Right.

Peter
07:18-07:42
So it didn't take quite as long to get everything loaded up and so I just was like, you know, here's the down payment. I drove home, grabbed your brother, went back down they had everything ready we went in i signed the 52 whatever lines that you gotta sign an initial and then i gave alex the keys to the Chevy and he drove it home and i got in the Toyota and drove it home.

Aubrey
07:33-07:45
Yeah. Very nice, and it looks very nice. I am, yeah.

Peter
07:44-07:50
You know, it's a nice car. Again, I'm not really that fancy of a person, so I don't need all the the bells and whistles, but I mean it's nice.

Aubrey
07:48-07:55
Yeah, yeah.

Peter
07:51-08:02
It's It's nice, you know, it's got leather seats and again it's a hybrid and it's got Apple CarPlay and and honestly look, it's a friggin' Toyota with 2600 miles on it.

Aubrey
07:56-08:17
Yeah Yeah Yep, yep.

Peter
08:03-08:18
I mean, statistically speaking, I should be able to drive this thing for, you know, at least another 200 to 250 or 300,000 miles. So, you know, that was the adventure for yesterday.

Aubrey
08:17-08:19
Yeah, very exciting.

Peter
08:18-08:31
But how are you? Let's why don't you tell us how the last few weeks have been and and give us a little life update? Because You've heard all the exciting stuff from my life, really. It's mostly for you now, so.

Aubrey
08:30-08:49
Yeah. Yeah, um, I mean I obviously got married, which was very, very exciting. Um, lots of of prep and um, you know, just being super busy leading up to it with a million random things to do um for that.

Peter
08:37-08:39
It did, it was.

Aubrey
08:49-10:21
And I also went on an Alaskan cruise the week before the week before the wedding. Um which I had a friend from school, um, who they had an extra ticket 'cause her uh boyfriend was supposed to go with, but then he got a job and was on his like a ninety day probationary period type thing. um and couldn't take the time off and whatever, so they were like, Hey, do you wanna do you wanna go on this cruise with us for free basically? And I was Yeah, I do. So I have not been home for three full weeks because I left on Friday, August 29th, and didn't come home until Friday, September nineteenth. Um so it was um I had to pack for all three weeks. And for the cruise and then also everything for my wedding, which is a very stressful packing day. I mean, I packed for like three days straight, basically, like a little bit over the course of three days to trust try and make sure I didn't forget anything. And my packing list was so insanely long It was insane. Cause I was like, this isn't the type of trip I can just kind of go without certain things. From this is kind of the trip that you need to overpack or pack exactly.

Peter
10:17-10:21
Right.

Aubrey
10:22-11:27
Like you can't just kind of skimp on the things you're packing. So Yeah, it was I I managed to do a big checked bag and then a carry-on bag and then my backpack. And yeah, I packed everything. It was a seven day cruise. So I packed everything for that, which that was a bit stressful because you kinda don't know what the weather is gonna look like and it was gonna be colder of course because it was up in Alaska. And so those things were bigger and bulky, bulkier, which was annoying, but I managed to pack everything for that and then Luckily when my maid of honor, Liv, um had come to visit um Hayden and I back in August, I sent my wedding dress home with her. um knowing I didn't want to have to bring it on the plane twice and also the cruise Because that oh that just would have been an absolute nightmare to have my wedding dress with everything.

Peter
11:25-11:30
Yeah, it would have been a little bit more.

Aubrey
11:27-11:41
So I said that with her, which is great, and said she's like worked with expensive gowns uh for many many years I was almost like I kind of trust her with the expensive dress more than I do myself anyways.

Peter
11:40-11:42
Sure, totally fair.

Aubrey
11:41-12:42
So Yeah, so I had to pack everything, but the cruise was amazing. It was super, super fun. We went to Juneau, Alaska. Um went to the Mendenhall Glacier up there. There's like a visitor center up there and a whole bunch of hiking trails. Um, so me and my friend did um the longer of the trails there. Um and since we were both kinda trying to do excursions and stuff on a budget, we took the public transit and then had to walk two miles from the bus stop to the hike, then do the hike, and then walk two miles back to the bus stop and then take the bus back down into town. Um, so overall her watch said that she had walked 11 miles that day. And I was with her the whole day, so I also walked 11 miles that day.

Peter
12:37-12:38
I believe it.

Aubrey
12:42-13:17
Um yeah, including the hike, which was not an easy hike. Not an easy hike at all. It had some absolutely crazy switchbacks. back and forth that I was like, ooh, I'm gonna die. My legs are on fire. But it was beautiful. Like it was just absolutely gorgeous. Um It was the whole thing was just uh lined with like the entire forest floor was lined with just like neon green moss. It was the most insane Like oh it was just it was just felt like we were yeah, it just felt like we were in a completely different world.

Peter
13:13-13:15
That sounds super cool.

Aubrey
13:17-15:05
I was like wow this is Alaska, this is crazy And there was just like ferns growing on the forest floor. I was like, how do they survive in the winter? Like what is happening? But yeah, it was gorgeous. Um, and then we went to Sitka or no before Sitka we went to Glacier Bay, um, which you can't get off the boat because there's no place to get off the boat because you're just seeing a glacier. Uh there's not like a visitor center or anything. So it's there was a whole there was like a wildlife guide guy on the boat that would have like wildlife spotting sessions and then also a whole glacier uh visibility thing um with a speaker that was like talking over the microphone telling you what you were seeing and all you know all that cool stuff. Um, so that was insane. We saw it was the Johns Hopkins Glacier, which was crazy because we could see the ice and stuff like cracking and falling, like pieces of the glacier would fall into the water and you would hear it cracking and echo the crack and then you would like everyone would be like, Where is it? And then see it just crash into the water and make the most insane waves. Um obviously did nothing to us because we were a big old cruise ship, but um that was crazy. And right there, probably the coolest maybe one of the coolest things I saw the whole week. was on the ice. It was just basically a big old sheet of ice right up under the glacier. Um there was like thousands of seals just sitting on their bellies doing their little banana pose, um, and just like being lazy, flopping around, like everywhere we could see, so like surrounding the cruise ship basically, like thousands of seals. It was crazy.

Peter
15:04-15:09
That's cool.

Aubrey
15:05-15:15
Like every little brown spot you could see was a seal. And I had my binoculars because someone got us binoculars off the wedding registry, which is very um perfect timing.

Peter
15:09-15:11
That's wild.

Aubrey
15:16-15:19
So I brought those.

Peter
15:16-15:17
Love that.

Aubrey
15:17-15:44
And you could see like little baby seals and apparently when they're doing banana posed like they are, you know, super arched. It means they're really happy. So if you saw the banana poses and you just saw a bunch of happy seals and it was adorable. Um, but we also went to Icy Straight Point, which is where I did the uh one of the world's largest zip lines. uh which was crazy.

Peter
15:42-15:55
Okay That's wild.

Aubrey
15:44-16:06
It was a thirteen hundred foot drop, um, and you go like sixty-five miles an hour. um for 90 full seconds. Like it is like the it was crazy. I almost pooped my pants when we got up to the top and I was like, I am so nervous. Like I can't do this.

Peter
16:03-16:28
Yeah Good Lord.

Aubrey
16:05-16:40
But it was me, my friend, and my friend's mom went with us. Um, and we they gave us little GoPros you could hold in your hand and then of course you can buy your video at the end. um for the low, low price of forty dollars. And so you like strap the GoPro on you and I had my camel back, so they had me put my camel back on the front 'cause they just strapped your s the belongings in with you, um, which was a little scary. Um and so we're we like get strapped in, you kind of sit in it like a chair, and then they just kind of strap you up and tighten it.

Peter
16:34-16:40
Yeah.

Aubrey
16:40-17:17
and they're checking everybody's, making sure everything's tight. And it's just like young adult old teenage t young like old teenagers working the zipline and sort of like, ah, you're fine. Like no one should be nervous. I take this I take this down at the end of work every day. Like everything's f like everything's fine, you know, just acting like it was nothing, which I'm sure it was for them. But then I was like, oh no, is this not tight enough? I thought my seatbelt wasn't quite tight enough. And so I was trying to get someone's attention to see if it was tight enough. Which they had double checked it. I was just being, you know, freaked out.

Peter
17:14-17:15
Sure.

Aubrey
17:16-17:20
And then the gate drops away and they say three, two, one, go.

Peter
17:17-17:17
Right.

Aubrey
17:20-17:47
And I was like, oh no. And they're like, start your GoPros. And then they just like shove everyone off. And I w and there that you also had to like keep your feet up till you pass a certain cliff and then you could drop your feet. And In my video when I watched it, because I give you a little preview of your video before you want to buy it, I am just like swearing and screaming and freaking out.

Peter
17:42-17:42
Sure.

Aubrey
17:47-18:12
And it was ins It was the most insane, like exhilarating. Oh, it was crazy. It was so crazy. But yeah, we got to the bottom. I'm like watching my preview. And my friend's mom is like, what did you say? And I was like, nothing. I'm just saying bad words. Don't want, don't listen to my video. I was like, you don't need to listen to it. It's okay. But yes, that was insane.

Peter
18:11-18:12
That's funny.

Aubrey
18:12-19:11
Crazy good memories there. But then we went to Sitka, Alaska, we went to Ketchikan, um, and then we stopped in Victoria, British Columbia really quick, um, as our last stop. and then had basically a full day or full day at sea, um, to get down to British Columbia and then we docked in Seattle last. So yeah, we came out of Seattle, docked back in Seattle. Um, but yeah, it was amazing. It was great, except for the fact that I got a little cold at the end of it and probably 'cause I was stressing myself out about wedding stuff so much. So then of course I got the cold and then got more stressed out that I got the cold and therefore didn't recover quickly from the cold because I was stressed about the cold Yeah, so but then you know I I recovered from my cold relatively fine.

Peter
19:03-19:05
Yeah, fair.

Aubrey
19:11-19:14
I was fine by the day of the wedding, which is all that actually mattered.

Peter
19:15-19:16
Thank goodness.

Aubrey
19:15-20:07
Um Yeah. But yeah, then the week before the wedding I just did the all the last minute things you do the week of your wedding, I guess. I got Hayden's suit pressed and our like cleaned our rings and stuff and um start like made some decor for the reception with my maid of honor and um she threw me a uh bridal shower which is really cute so mom got to come down for that. Um And yeah, so that was super fun. I have the um we painted little mini canvases um during the bridal shower and Only half of them are really good at like very, very good from people who are very good at painting. And I'm probably gonna put those up on my wall, but on the other half I probably will just keep and keep snakes.

Peter
20:07-20:12
You're like, these will be memories, personal memories.

Aubrey
20:09-20:26
And one of the ones, yeah, one of the ones that will be a personal memory is mine. I'm not good at painting, and I fully admit that. And the ones that were good was like Liv Hayden, for some reason, painted a really good Stardew Valley scene. I don't know why he's good at painting.

Peter
20:25-20:29
Okay.

Aubrey
20:26-21:05
That's annoying, because I'm not. Um and Jess and Georgie are also good. Um, so the other ones are just cute ones that I'll uh probably put somewhere that you I can look at like on their coffee. table or something, but maybe not on the literal wall. Um but um yeah so just did all the prep for the wedding. I was super stressed of course, but also just very, very excited. Um so I was having the anxious poops for like three days before um the day of the wedding and also on the day of the wedding, um, but as to be expected.

Peter
21:03-21:03
Of course.

Aubrey
21:06-21:26
But yeah, and then the wedding day happened, which I think, considering everything that did go wrong, ended up being a very, very amazing day. And we came back from the And what went wrong was the damn big Godwin marathon.

Peter
21:17-21:19
Yeah, it was awesome.

Aubrey
21:26-24:49
That is gonna be the bane of my existence. Um 'Cause you know, I'll just I'll briefly go over the frustrations because now of course that everything's over. It's like it doesn't matter, it's not a stressor anymore. But Of course, I find out about the big Cottonwood Marathon when I'm on the cruise. So there's not really much I can do to fix or solve or whatever. So I hand it to Hayden and Hayden has to hand handle that, but What happened was my one of my bridesmaids FaceTimed me while I was on the cruise and was just like, Hey, what's up? How's it going? You know, just catching up for a second. And then she was like, Oh, did you know that there's the big Cottonwood Marathon on the morning of your wedding? which is in Big Cottonwood Canyon. And I was like, oh, what? So of course I have a full mental breakdown, start sobbing because I'm like, I can't get married because the stupid marathon's happening. And I, you know, my friend who actually was I went on the cruise with had run the big Cottonwood Marathon last year. So she was like, Well, there's people that do get up. It's just really backed up traffic. You know, she's trying to help me calm down, whatever. I call Hayden in a panic and Hayden's like, it's fine, I'll I'll handle it. So he's m emailing back and forth at the event people to figure out where's the best way for all of the guests to go, because we need to be at this location at this time. And these people need to be at this location at this time. And they say to take the Park City route. Go up through Park City behind the canyon and come down the other way because we'll avoid all of the runners So we say great. That adds like an hour and fifteen minutes, basically, to the or forty five minutes to an hour of tra of travel, but at least we won't get stopped by the runners the whole time because you don't really know how that's gonna go. So We everyone knows the plan. We had contacted everyone for the ceremony. You guys included. You guys contact grandparents and other people that need to know. You know, whatever. We figured that out. And then We go the morning of. We were up at like 4:15 a. m. to get ready. And I'm gonna call out one of my bridesmaids on this because I love her so much. I don't even know if she listens to this podcast. So maybe she'll never hear this. But she texts me that morning and says I'm gonna be a little late. I think I went the wrong way or something to the hotel. And I said, okay, that's fine. We're still getting ready. Whatever. I figured she'd be there relatively soon. Then she calls me and is like, I can't get in. The gate is closed. And I was like, the g what do you mean the gate is closed? There's the parking garage underneath the hotel. You just have to get a ticket. It opens the gate. You can go park. She was like, parking garage? I thought we were meeting at the campground. Girl, what do you mean? She knows she's silly for this. I I already called her out for this, but I was like, what do you mean we're meeting at the campground? We're gonna have to get ready. What do you mean you're gonna get ready at the campground? Why would you get ready at the campground? So it's very silly of her. So I was like, girl. No, we're meeting at the hotel. So she's like, okay, I will come down and try and and meet you guys because it's still super early in the morning. She's like, I will drive down and meet you at the hotel as fast as I can. And like five minutes later, she's like, I can't get down the canyon. They they they're keeping me here.

Peter
24:47-24:48
Mm-hmm.

Aubrey
24:49-25:03
And I was like, okay. Which, in hindsight, I should have realized this meant we couldn't go the Park City way, but the event people had said go the Park City way. So I still was following what the event people had said.

Peter
25:00-25:02
It's true, they totally had.

Aubrey
25:03-25:58
So she's stuck up there and I was like, okay, maybe they're just making not letting you go th down through the bottom of the canyon, but they're letting you go up. I don't know. I wasn't really thinking to be honest. So we finally are leaving at the time we need to leave, cause Hayden and I had our private um portraits and first looking vows and stuff. And we get all the way up into Park City, and I'm with my maid of honor and my other bridesmaid, and Hayden is driving with his best man, so he doesn't see me. And he calls me while we stopped in a gas station so I could pee. And he is like, you have to turn around. There's a cop. They're not letting us come down the canyon. And I had taken my propernolol twice at this point. So I am like, there is like no physical like I would have a panic attack if I hadn't taken the meds, but I did.

Peter
25:58-26:01
Yeah, no, your receptors are all blocked.

Aubrey
25:59-26:23
So yeah, so you know I physically cannot breathe quickly and my heart rate is not increasing. um like it would. My palms are definitely sweaty and I definitely feel mentally very stressed, but physically there's no panic attack happening. So I'm like, oh Awesome. Okay. I guess I'll call my parents.

Peter
26:24-26:27
I mean, you did sound pretty calm when you called us.

Aubrey
26:27-28:14
Yeah. So well I called my the photographer first of all, 'cause she was the one who needed to be there first, and she had the absolute perfect answer. She said You know what, we're on the brides time. Doesn't matter. We'll get there when we get there. It's fine. And I was like, okay, you're right. So we call everyone, you know, whatever. I call Hayden a couple more times because I'm like Did you in in this exact voice, did you call everyone? And he's like, yes, I called everyone. I'm like, okay. That's like the only emotion I can have. And I'm just like staring out into space, just stressed, being like, awesome, everything is Pushed off like just the lack of sleep and the stress. I was not, you know, emotionally regulating super well. Um and my May of Honor is like, why don't you watch a movie or a YouTube video or something? Because I'm just like staring out into space, not talking. So I did. I finished watching I started watching uh Black Widow because I was halfway through it when I was on the plane. Um, so I was like, Well, this is what I have downloaded on my iPad, so I'm gonna just watch that. So I started watching it. We finally, you know, get all the way back down. We sit in traffic for a really long time and then we get moving up and the light is at the end of the tunnel and everything is fine. And we got To the place we needed to go for our uh private vows and portraits and it was beautiful and I was like, everything is fine. Everything is beautiful. We're finally here. There's no longer having to sit in the car and hope we'll actually move an inch. And everything was great. So, besides that one major, major hiccup, it was a fantastically beautiful day. And Yeah, it really was.

Peter
28:12-28:14
It was, it was beautiful.

Aubrey
28:15-28:27
It was amazing. The ceremony was beautiful. I I really thought I would be able to hold together my tears wrong. Wrong. I was a mess.

Peter
28:24-28:29
Oh, of course you weren't gonna be able to. No, you're supposed to be a mess.

Aubrey
28:27-29:10
I mean, I figured I figured I would have a few tears, but I don't know. When I have a lot of makeup on and my eyes are dry from being in Utah. Usually there's just something that kind of stops the tears a little bit. Immediately wrong. And before our private first look, like the photographer set us up, Hayden's like back is turned from me And he's like fully crying before he even turns around to see me. And so then I'm crying because he's crying and then he turns around and he's sobbing and I'm sobbing and everyone's sobbing. And I was like, great, now I have to fix my makeup before the ceremony. But it was it was amazing. It was beautiful. It was everything I could ever dream of, truly.

Peter
29:10-29:11
Good.

Aubrey
29:10-29:13
Um the reception was amazing, so so fun.

Peter
29:11-29:12
I'm glad.

Aubrey
29:14-29:18
I had a I mean I think the food was good. I think.

Peter
29:17-29:19
That was great. Yeah, it was very good.

Aubrey
29:18-29:30
I had three meatballs the whole during the whole reception. Three meatballs and a slice of cake. Um which at least I had a slice of cake, you know. Usually I feel like you don't really get to ha I don't know.

Peter
29:28-29:36
Right, totally It did.

Aubrey
29:31-29:38
But yeah, so I had three meatballs, a slice of cake. Everything looked great though. Um Um Yeah, it was it was beautiful.

Peter
29:36-29:37
It went great.

Aubrey
29:39-30:00
Everyone did amazing helping with just all of the setup and The decorations and everything. And Hayden and I went upstairs and played Mario Kart, blissfully unaware of the setup happening. Um in the floor below us, which is great. I absolutely destroyed him in Mario Kart and also Smash Bros.

Peter
29:57-30:00
Perfect.

Aubrey
30:00-30:08
Um if you ask him it's cause his controller wasn't working, but um I think I'm just better uh, you know.

Peter
30:01-30:06
Love that. Of course.

Aubrey
30:07-30:26
But yeah, it was amazing. And then of course the next day was um Alex's homecoming talk and everything. So then that was a lot of planning and stuff on your guys' part. So I didn't envy you for that. But Yeah.

Peter
30:22-30:26
Yeah, no, it was good, but it's been a lot, so.

Aubrey
30:27-30:40
But anyways, it was obviously my wedding was amazing because it was my wedding and it was also beautiful and perfect, but um I think everyone also enjoyed the weekend too. I just thought it was it was great.

Peter
30:39-30:40
Yeah.

Aubrey
30:40-30:41
Yeah.

Peter
30:40-30:41
No, it was. It was awesome.

Aubrey
30:41-30:42
Yeah.

Peter
30:42-30:43
It was really a good time.

Aubrey
30:42-30:43
Yeah.

Peter
30:43-30:50
And it went well. And now you just get to move forward and as as a married couple.

Aubrey
30:47-30:53
Yeah, yep, yep.

Peter
30:50-30:55
And I'm glad for you. And I'm glad for Your mom and I do that it's over.

Aubrey
30:53-30:56
Yes Yes. Yeah.

Peter
30:56-30:57
Not gonna lie.

Aubrey
30:57-31:09
Yep. No, me too. Like y obviously, obviously I'm happy because I'm married to love my life, but I'm also so glad there's no more wedding planning happening ever in my life.

Peter
31:08-31:10
Right.

Aubrey
31:10-31:15
And even Liv, who was the maid of honor, I mean, I dumped so many things on her.

Peter
31:10-31:12
You get it.

Aubrey
31:15-31:47
Um, because if I didn't know who to delegate something to, it was to her. Um, and she also was like, Yeah, I feel really relieved and light and also like I don't wanna do anything. And I was like, Yeah, neither neither do I. I did a whole lot of rotting last week 'cause And I slept so much just because my body was finally like, oh, it's over. So yeah, but Yeah.

Peter
31:41-31:48
Right? No, that's totally fair. But it was, it was good. It was a great, great time.

Aubrey
31:47-32:06
Yeah. It was it was great. It was great to be around all the family and stuff too for um the homecoming stuff the next day and yeah, I don't know if did mom show you the picture I sent you of the stack of uh gifts that we got when we came home.

Peter
32:05-32:09
She mentioned it, but I did not get to see it.

Aubrey
32:08-32:17
Let me s let me send it to you right now because it was crazy. The mailroom was crazy when we got home.

Peter
32:16-32:18
Yeah, I bet.

Aubrey
32:18-32:24
Let me find this. Here it is. Should have delivered. And that was most of them.

Peter
32:23-32:26
Holy cow.

Aubrey
32:24-32:26
That was most of them, not all of them.

Peter
32:28-32:31
That is an impressive stack of packages.

Aubrey
32:31-32:38
Yep, yep. And we opened all of them basically in one night because we were just excited about everything.

Peter
32:37-32:39
Of course you were, as you should be.

Aubrey
32:39-32:50
We got a lot of good stuff. A lot of good stuff. I'm very, very grateful and very excited. So yeah, very, very big, exciting few weeks.

Peter
32:46-32:47
How was that?

Aubrey
32:50-32:54
So but now we can, you know, get back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Peter
32:56-32:58
There you go. That's the key.

Aubrey
32:58-32:59
Yeah.

Peter
32:59-33:15
Well, I'm glad it was good for you. I mean we thought it went well and uh we were hoping that you felt the same because yeah, you know it was It's an important day, it's a big day, and you want it to be positive memories, only good vibes is what you want when it's all said and done.

Aubrey
33:02-33:22
Yeah. Yep, exactly.

Peter
33:16-33:28
So Well cool. Uh I don't have much else to add other than it was uh it was a lot of fun and it was a beautiful day and I was glad that we could all spend it together.

Aubrey
33:28-33:28
Yeah.

Peter
33:28-33:36
Um, you like you said, little hiccups along the way, but nothing that was such a big deal that, you know, it caused any trouble.

Aubrey
33:34-33:43
Yeah, didn't didn't actually have any lasting consequences 'cause yeah, I mean we started the ceremony like th thirty minutes late.

Peter
33:36-33:57
So Yeah, no, it was plenty of time.

Aubrey
33:43-34:02
Um, but we got done with all of the bridal party family pictures 30 minutes early. So we ended up basically leaving the campground on time anyways. Which I was like, oh, everything was perfect. Everything went pretty much swimmingly after that.

Peter
34:02-34:04
Good. I'm glad.

Aubrey
34:04-34:08
So, yeah, do you have a do you have a fact? A fact for us, something?

Peter
34:07-34:12
I do not because I it just it's been one of those kinds of weeks.

Aubrey
34:12-34:13
Yeah.

Peter
34:12-34:19
So I don't know, unless you've got something I I think you know we can wrap up to for now.

Aubrey
34:18-34:35
I do have something. Let me Okay, so it looks like we have found so the the I don't know how to say it, the NASA's Chandra X-ray observatory.

Peter
34:22-36:14
Let's hear about it Okay.

Aubrey
34:35-36:47
Um has been looking at a black hole that is about twelve point eight billion light years from Earth. Um and it they have found it is growing at one of the fastest rates ever recorded. And I think well they think not me. Not me What they think is why they're growing, it's growing so fast, is because it's powering uh what's called a quasar, um, which is In simple terms, basically an extremely, extremely bright object that shoots incredibly bright jets on either side. um and is brighter than entire galaxies and sometimes entire galaxy clusters. Like it's like it one among the most extreme objects. um in the universe besides black holes themselves. So it has a quasar. It's powering a quasar, um, which we think as that matter um the there's so much matter really, really close to the black hole. And so when the matter is pulled toward a black hole, of course, it's heated and produces intense radiation, which creates pressure on the infalling material. And there basically is the critical value of the Eddington limit Eddington limit, which is like the limit of mass that the black hole can swallow, like at a certain rate. Um but It looks like it's growing at 2. 4 times the Eddington limit, um, which is crazy and has done so for a very sustained amount of time. Um so that's super cool. And they're trying to kind of work backwards to estimate how massive the black hole could have been at birth because We can see if like how it could be getting so incredibly big because it is about a billion times the mass of the sun, which is kind of as big as you can get for supermassive black holes.

Peter
36:38-36:38
Sure.

Aubrey
36:48-37:02
Um which i because we're astronomers here, um an order of magnitude or two doesn't really mean much. Um, but that is uh ten to the nine.

Peter
36:58-36:59
Right.

Aubrey
37:02-37:08
So nine orders of magnitude bigger than the sun, which is a lot.

Peter
37:06-37:08
That's a lot.

Aubrey
37:09-37:41
So yeah, it's basically growing. It swallows and grows between three hundred and three thousand suns per year. The sun To normal people, as in non-astronomers, the sun is big. To astronomers, the sun is meh So, but that's just a good way to uh it's just the way that we base everything off of because we can see the sun every day So it's a nice, you know, you can be like, oh, 3,000 of those get swallowed by the black hole every year.

Peter
37:41-37:43
That's wild.

Aubrey
37:41-38:02
Which is crazy. Um so yeah, that was pretty cool. Um I think quasars and black holes are absolutely insane. Um, because that is just like the most extreme object ever. And also is so far away, so we're seeing it, you know, so far into the past actually, because it's so incredibly far away.

Peter
38:00-38:04
Right.

Aubrey
38:02-38:05
So yeah, that's my fact for the day.

Peter
38:05-38:05
Very cool.

Aubrey
38:05-38:06
Yeah.

Peter
38:06-38:07
I love it.

Aubrey
38:06-38:07
Yep.

Peter
38:07-38:32
Well, we'll go ahead and wrap up now, but we should be back in another couple weeks. A little more regular now that things, all the big excitement has uh settled. So Uh yeah, we'll be back in another few weeks and until then go ahead and share an episode uh if you want and uh maybe leave a review, give us a star rating, and encourage other people to listen.

Aubrey
38:32-38:35
Yes, exactly. Okay, we'll talk to you guys later.
