Play Therapy and What Is It

Michael aka BigCat, provides details on how he combines play therapy and technology for his clients during their therapy sessions. Each host discovers how play therapy can be used with their everyday life and family. We explore games as a mean of being therapeutic and how important playing games were to us growing up.

We discuss play therapy, as defined from the Association for play therapy website:

Simply put, child play therapy is a way of being with the child that honors their unique developmental level and looks for ways of helping in the “language” of the child – play. Licensed mental health professionals therapeutically use play to help their clients, most often children ages three to twelve years, to better express themselves and resolve their problems.

The team dives deeper into our gaming past and understand a bit more about ourselves through understanding play therapy. We use examples from our lives past and present and Michael, aka BigCat, provides feedback and insight to the team. Michael also details how he utilizes technology to interact with children during his play therapy sessions.
